Shellcrete is a dense concrete that is waterproof, frostproof, UV light resistant, fire and carbonation resistant. Its incredibly strong and resilient nature makes it the perfect material for manufacturing structural panels for use within timber or steel framed housing or as a complete building system.
Shellcrete has been in use for over 25 years without any failures. Portsmouth University Building Materials Testing Facility has given it a minimum 100 year working life but consider that it will outlast the primary life of any construction for which it is used.
Shellcrete panels have been used to build pre-fabricated strongrooms for Tesco, a two storey house, bathroom pods and spherical pods. It could also be used to build volumetric units. Unusual shapes can also be manufactured such as the 'pod' pictured above and the same principles could be applied to produce bridge decks, bomb blast cells, cabins, domes, curved walkways, bus and smoking shelters etc.
Whenever you need to keep water in or out, Shellcrete will perform year in and year out.
Shellcrete is Egan compliant and complies with Agenda 21 and with the latest principles of sustainability.
Manufactured to +/-2mm the panels utilise thin wall construction to optimise floor areas with maximum insulation possible so as to achieve low thermal energy use with consequent reductions in CO² emmissions.
